Artistic Statement

The Giantesses is a poetic and marvelous choreographic tale. Within mountains of paper, our two characters come to life, playing at becoming each other's giantess. Human and monstrous, dangerous and fascinating, they will enjoy guiding us into their imaginary world, populated by spirits, shadows and captivating colors.

Gigantism is essentially, in Western mythologies, a masculine attribute. All the stories relating the presence of colossal characters depict ogres, titans, cyclops. Models of strength and violence, they represent primitive beings, obstacles to harmony and peace, whom gods, goddesses and human beings make it their mission to surpass.

But in these stories other characters are hidden with more complexity and multiplicity, carried by deities or feminine spirits just as disproportionate. Carrying attention to the world, openness to others and the pleasure of living, they allow us to reconnect with the realm of our emotions.

Like the divine Gaia, Amalthea with her broken horn or even Baobo with her bright laughter, our Giantesses become the nurses and protectors of this world. Creatures with plural identities, they take us on a journey into a microcosm where everything is just nuances, where each word is a movement, where light and music are constantly transformed. The Giantesses is a love letter to our power to dream, an odyssey within reach of all eyes.
